"The Building of the House"

Building of the House
There has been so much done here at the Ministry house! There is now heat in the first level, some insulation installed, partial cabinets in the kitchen, little duct work done in the second level, and sheet-rock hung on the whole first floor. We have been working on wiring the second level so we can insulate up there as well. I think that heaven probably doesn’t need all the extra hot air it’s getting from our second floor! (Lol)

However, in spite of all of the exciting progress, we have realized that we have been working so hard on the construction of the building that we have lacked on our end of keeping up with studies and building our own house within us as much lately. The Lord has really laid it on our hearts to re-focus more of our time on our relationship with Him and the study of the Word!

We are asking you to pray for us this week December 5th through December 11th! As a family we are going to set aside 8 to 10 hrs per day to study the word of God, learn from good bible teaching DVD’s and books, do topical studies, praise and worship, have personal prayer time and to pray for one another and for others. The Lord has been reminding us that asking Jesus in our heart is only the beginning, (He is the unfailing foundation, one that will not sink!) and that our task after receiving that foundation is to constantly learn and grow, and to build the house on it out of material that will withstand the fire, (trials and tribulations)… to build a house that won’t burn up when tested, as stated by Paul.

We would really appreciate your prayers this week, please pray that God would show us everything He wants us to learn, and that the boys would all grow in their relationship with the Lord as well! Thank you for reading and keeping up with what’s going on at The Ministry House.

Love you in Christ, Joey, Hazel and family

P.S.
We have been very blessed here, with the company of other believers (friends) coming to visit and pray for this ministry. I want to say thank you to all that has come, and encourage anyone else that feels led by God to come and feel welcome!

P.P.S.
In case you haven’t heard, we were very blessed on November 22 with the birth of Jeremiah Aaron Orebaugh, he makes number eight in our little army here. Hazel and baby Jeremiah did very well and we thank God for a healthy boy!

Moving Mountains

Literally moving mountains of plaster! How amazing it is how God used Merle (president of the Bible School ) with this idea of what to do with all of the old plaster out of the house. He suggested making plaster drive-ways and paths! Well since then we have taken a bunch of loads out from the main floor of the house, but still had an enormous mountain sitting in a bedroom on the second floor. I had been making myself sick when I thought about moving that heavy mountain! Like some of the things in our own lives, burdens or problems that seem like mountains to be moved, we can make our self sick when we think about them. Well what I have found out in the past and now through this plaster-mountain experience, first of all is another reminder of how our God is a mountain mover according to Matthew 17; 20-21, all we have to do is give it to Him and ask Him to guide us through.  Well the mountain had been sitting for a while and time passed, I continued to work around the pile frustrated and inconvenienced… it had to be moved! As you can see in the pictures below the boys and I became creative! We built a ramp out of the second floor window! This was so much better than carrying it out in buckets and believe it or not, the ramp made the plaster land exactly where we needed it to be. Guys this whole process of moving this mountain and putting the pieces all where they belong only took about three hours! Yes it was a lot of sweat, dust and work but overall it was pretty easy. It’s amazing how those mountains in our life seem to be these huge things that are impossible, but then the Lord gives us His strength and guidance, and when we look back we can tell that the Lord had His hand in it all. Then the big question is “why was I so worried?”
May God bless you!  Thank you for reading this and keeping up with what God is doing here at The Ministry House. You can also find our web site at: www.theministryhouse.com
Love you in Christ !

People Needing Food!

We recently had The Ministry House placed in the Herington and Council Grove papers. The ad read Under construction/Coming Soon....and then described the ministry...Even though the ad was pretty clear that we are not opened yet, people began calling asking for help with food and interested in the Church Service. We haven't met the building requirements to be set up with the food banks yet so we've just been offering to take people to the store...Please pray that the Lord will bless Joey's hands and the hands of volunteers as we all work towards getting things ready! We are so excited to get a small glimpse of the true need that is out there...people really do need our help! One thing we know for sure from our experience at the outreach center in Garden City is that many people come in need of food, but also come with broken hearts, and end up leaving feeling a sense of hope as they learn about the Lord and see and feel the love that the body of Christ has for them! Our arms are aching to be able to hug on them and pray over them!!! We can't wait!!!

A partial face-lift!

Wow what hope for the outside of the house. The past week or so we have been working on the outside of the house on the south side, as you can see in the previous pictures it looked horrible, and honestly pretty overwhelming to us.
God amazed us with creative ideas on getting the job done, friends who helped, and free paint for this side! What a Blessing! Here are the pictures...

                                      The difference is almost unbelievable!
P.S. we have a new web site we'd like you to be a part of! There is a blog page set up on that site that is waiting to have your testimonies of what the Lord has done in your life posted! Please see that page for further instructions. We are looking forward to hearing from everyone. This is one small way we can all join together and give God some of the Glory He deserves! What? In Wilsey Kansas?

This past week has been such an amazing time for our family. Here in Wilsey there are around 6 families that we know of building, preparing, and some already running ministries, this is including our family, but does not include a few more families that want to come soon. A pastor from California and a pastor from Arizona both have purchased property here and feel like the Lord is going to do something amazing in this town. The group out of Arizona has come in and purchased most of main street. You see there has not been a running business in Wilsey for many years now. They have been re - doing some of the buildings for having youth revivals and for many other future ministries, this year was their third time of having the youth revival. It was such a blessing to see this happen! There was about 400 kids that came from all over the united states to be a part of it. (Wilsey's population is only 180!) Well the leaders and the kids invited us right in and treated us just like family of their own, they wanted us to do all of the events with them. It was great to see many young adults receive Christ for the first time, and other young adults break loose through praise and worship! As for my family and I “it was a very much needed awesome time of revival!" The pastor from California plans to start an aviation training program here for missionaries! It's exciting to watch the Lord randomly draw more and more christian leaders to this town, one right after another...what is going on??? There are many people in this town including us that are asking the same question, what…here in Wilsey?
We just met another family that is moving here and has purchased a few buildings on main street as well, they have the plans of re-opening the gas station, the general store, and a small cafĂ©. None of these buildings are move in ready, they all have to have a ton of work done to them, but should be opened within the next few months.
As for our house, we just installed our sign out front, which is praise the Lord, because we have been working on our sign since day one. We also have torn off one of the big eye sore off the side of the house (a gross porch cover that was falling down) and put some siding up in it’s place. As far as the inside of the house goes, we are ready to move forward with the plumbing. We won’t have hot water yet, but pretty soon we will have installed two toilets, two vanities and one shower inside the house, it will all have cold water, but in this heat it will probably feel good to have a cold shower!  don’t worry we still have hot water in the r.v. praise God.
We have been blessed by talking to the people that live in the community, the people that we have met have amazing hearts, and the community is so great to be a part of. We know that the Lord has something so great planned for this community, we can’t wait to see more fulfillment of the Lords plan! Well, hope you all have a great day! God bless- Joey

A Splash from the Past

There have been some incredible blessing we would like to mention. Since the purchase of the ministry house in April, the Lord has provided the following:
  • Enough Insulation for the entire building donated by Gary Salsbury in Anthony, Kansas
  • Whole house plumbing installation services free of charge by Mel Land of Wilsey, Kansas
  • Help with various construction projects such as leveling the building, ect by Merle Rothwell
  • Supplies and Labor for painting the outside of the building by other local ministries
We are so thankful to everyone for their help. We are preparing to start work on running electricity through out the building. We are hopeful to have a full operating bathroom installed soon!

Our Story...

This last fall the Lord laid it on our hearts to sell or give away almost everything we owned, including our home in Garden City. We knew that God was calling us into some kind of major ministry. We watched as our 6 boys by their own free will gave up all they had, anxious to “pick up their cross and follow Jesus where ever He led!” Over a series of events, we ended up here in Wilsey, Kansas. We purchased the property above and have named it “The Ministry House!”
Here the poor will be fed, and the “lost” will hear the message of Christ! Every Saturday morning we will have a short (10-15 minute) non-denominational bible message. These services will be followed by the distribution of food boxes to anyone in need of food! We will also be cooking free hot meals through out the week.
Our vision is to be a ministering family in a place where the broken hearted can come and find joy! Were the love of Christ is made known by actions of love and giving, and not just by preaching alone!
